Chiropractic Subluxation

All of the health professions are becoming more specialized. Different doctors have different areas of expertise. Chiropractors have the training and expertise necessary to diagnose and treat chiropractic subluxations.  A chiropractic subluxation is a specific clinical condition which occurs when the joints of the body (such as joints of the spine, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees or ankles) become misaligned and are not able to move properly.  This causes muscles and nerves to be irritated which can create painful symptoms and interfere with the body's ability to function and heal properly.

The chiropractic subluxation is not always painful initially, but if left untreated, pain and other symptoms usually result. These may include low back pain, neck and shoulder pain, fatigue, headaches and feeling overwhelmed by stress.

In addition, the following conditions may also be caused by a chiropractic subluxation:

  • Elbow pain
  • upper back pain
  • lower back pain
  • Bursitis
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Disc Injuries
  • Headaches
  • Knee Pain
  • Neck Pain
  • Rotator Cuff Injuries
  • Scoliosis
  • Shoulder Pain
  • Tendonitis
  • Tennis Elbow
  • Whiplash

We are not suggesting that these conditions are always the result of a chiropractic subluxation.  However, subluxations can be the cause or a contributing factor to these painful problems.

The Doctors' thorough chiropractic examination will determine if you are an appropriate candidate for chiropractic care.  If they determine that the cause of your symptoms is something that will not respond to chiropractic care, they will refer you to your primary care physician for further evaluation.

The chiropractic subluxation is very different from the medical definition of the word 'subluxation' which means the complete dislocation of a bone. The chiropractic subluxation refers to joints in the body which have become misaligned and are not moving properly.  Stress can also be a contributing factor.  Stress can affect us in many different ways. Examples of physical stress would be automobile accidents, athletic injuries, falls and repetitive motion injuries. Examples of emotional stress would include major life changes such as losing a job, divorce, or loss of a loved one. We can further weaken our bodies with chemical stresses such as poor diet, alcohol and cigarettes.

Dr. Chapman corrects the chiropractic subluxation by using gentle chiropractic adjustments to restore proper movement to the bones of the spine. This removes nerve interference which allows your body to begin to heal properly.
